Troubleshooting problems with software
Software works intermittently with Windows 8.1 – UNRESOLVED It may have something to do with the way BioExplorer and BxShadow work on Windows 8 and needs a fix.
Does not install – Do a manual installation. Request the manual version of the BxShadow installation folder from Brain-Trainer. Extract files then copy the BxShadow folder and Paste into C:\. The path will be C:\BxShadow. You can now make a shortcut. Here is a video showing the installation process:
Captions not showing – Select Instruments, uncheck and recheck Show Captions.
Signal not playing in design –
•Select BioExplorer | Devices, see that only one device is checked in the Device Manager. Uncheck extras.
•Select Window | Signal Diagram, right-click Source and select Properties. Press dropdown button to select correct device from menu. Save design.
•Set training options with buttons before starting session
Chrome, unable to download exe files from Brain-Trainer –
1. In the top-right corner of the browser window, click the Chrome menu.
2. Select Settings.
3. Click Show advanced settings.
4. Under “Privacy,” deselect the “Enable phishing and malware protection” checkbox.
Macro not working –
○Select File | Options | Trust Center
○Select Macro settings and select Disable all macros with notification
○Click Message bar. Click “Show the Message Bar in all applications when active content…etc.”
•Do computer search. Type in search field: *.exd Delete any .exd files. Then reboot computer.
•Compatibility issues with versions of Excel may require fixes. Please email brain-trainer with problem, error, screen shot if possible
Run-time error – Send email to brain-trainer with exact wording of error and the file you are using for troubleshooting.
Error: There was a problem sending the command to the program – Select File | Options | General section- Advanced | Check Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) check box
Strange numbers –Set Regional Options. Go into your computer’s Control Panel and choose the category for Regional and Language Options. You want to check the formatting of numbers. This is usually found near the bottom of the formatting page Additional Settings The first option is decimal signal. That should be a period, NOT a comma. Many parts of the world use a comma here. If so, change it to “.” The third option is digit grouping. This must be a comma, NOT a period. Change if necessary. Then click OK to save the settings.
Signal flatlined, Q-wiz – Turn Offset Freeze on and then off. Re-power the Q-wiz
